Job Description
The Assistant Manager – Mechanical Maintenance will be responsible for ensuring optimum performance, reliability, and availability of CNC and VMC machines through preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities. The role involves leading maintenance teams, minimizing machine downtime, improving equipment efficiency, and supporting production targets in a high-precision manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
CNC & VMC Machine Maintenance
- Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities for CNC, VMC, HMC, SPM, and auxiliary equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical failures in machine tools and production equipment.
- Ensure maximum machine uptime and production continuity.
- Monitor machine performance and implement corrective actions to improve reliability.
Maintenance Planning & Execution
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules and maintenance checklists.
- Analyse recurring machine failures and implement root cause corrective actions (RCCA).
- Maintain maintenance records, history cards, and machine documentation.
- Coordinate with production teams to schedule maintenance activities with minimum disruption.
Equipment Reliability & Improvement
- Drive TPM, Kaizen, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Improve MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) and reduce MTTR (Mean Time To Repair).
- Recommend modifications and upgrades to improve machine performance.
Team Management
- Lead and supervise maintenance technicians and engineers.
- Allocate work assignments and monitor team performance.
- Conduct skill development and training programs for maintenance personnel.
Spare Parts & Vendor Management
- Monitor critical spare inventory and ensure availability of essential parts.
- Coordinate with OEMs, vendors, and service providers for repairs and AMC activities.
- Evaluate vendor performance and optimize maintenance costs.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintenance procedures.
- Implement safe work practices and maintain statutory compliance requirements.
