KRAs and KPIs
Responsible for end-to-end civil and structural engineering of main plant and BOP areas of a 4 × 175 MW thermal power plant. This includes overseeing detailed engineering, drawing approvals, coordination with design consultants/vendors, BOQ preparation, and technical support during execution to ensure compliance with project specifications, quality, safety, timelines. and partnership development: Passionate about developing talent and fostering
Partnerships within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise review and approval of civil/structural design documents for:
- Coal Handling System (CHP): Transfer towers, conveyor galleries, crusher house, cable gallery, control room.
- Ash Handling System (AHP): Pipe racks, pump houses, ash silos, silo control room, collector towers, ash dyke.
- Water Systems: WTP, CW/ACW pump house, chemical and hydrogen buildings.
- Switchyard/Transformer Yard: Including structures up to 400 kV level.
- Main Plant Area: Boiler structures, transfer towers, pipe racks.
- Infrastructure: Roads, RCC drains, and rigid pavements.
- Design & Engineering Responsibilities:
- Reviewed and optimized design documents and drawings for transformer yards, BOP areas, township, and auxiliary buildings.
- Designed fly ash-based rigid pavements, RCC drains, subways, and ash dyke lining structures.
- BOQ preparation, cost estimation, tender documentation, vendor drawing review, and material reconciliation.
1. Industry Type Exposure :- 1. Experience in handling engineering and design of civil structures for CHP, AHP, WTP, electrical switchyards, and internal infrastructure.
2. Experience in EPC or owner’s engineering team in a thermal power project of similar or larger scale (minimum 500 MW cumulative).
Engineering & Coordination:
- Design and review of civil and structural drawings as per geotechnical reports
- BOQ preparation, cost estimation, and technical specifications
- Coordination with vendors for drawing approvals and material submittals
- Support to site engineering, procurement, and project management teams
- Conducted site meetings, resolved design issues, issued amendments
- Led preparation of tender documents and reconciliation of materials.
Coordination & Execution:
- Led inter-departmental coordination across design, procurement, and execution teams.
- Conducted contractor meetings, issued engineering amendments, resolved site issues, and ensured alignment with project schedules.
- Managed site engineering supervision, construction quality assurance, and vendor compliance.
Functional Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of structural design principles for RCC and steel structures.
- Proficiency in analysis and design of power plant structures including boiler foundations, TG buildings, pipe racks, and transfer towers.
- Strong understanding of design requirements for:
- CHP, AHP, WTP, Switchyard, Control Rooms, Ash Dyke, etc.
- Familiarity with thermal plant design philosophy and BOP layout optimization.
