Career in packaging: Roles n Responsibilities

Career prospects in the packaging Industry:

This is in continuation with the previous post 'Career in packaging'. What are the career prospects in the industry? what all one must look into before taking up a course in packaging?

I always suggest the aspirants to go through the industry trends before taking the crucial decision of entering into a particular industry. Last year while counselling the students I noticed that many of them wanted to take their specialization in telecommunication and move into the telecom industry. I simply asked them to go through the trends in the industry in the last five years and most of them reconsidered their decision.

If you know what will you be doing if you opt for a particular career, you will have a clear understanding of as to what to do you want. The profile names might sound fancy and attractive to you but when it comes to the actual work you actuallly know the industry, this is where the significance of an experienced candidate lies. In some of the previous posts of mine I advocated the candidates to go through the Job description of the profile they are looking for so that they can get an idea as to what is expected from them apart from the essential qualification of holding a degree in the particular subject. Once you understand and learn all that is actually required you are right there at your dream position in your dream company. Here is the JD of an MNC for their requirement of a middle level mangaerial position. Hope this gives you an idea as to what all you will be doing when you take up a degree or Diploma course in packaging. Remember what you will be doing matters more than what you will be earning.

Here's the description of Roles and Responsibilities of a Joint Manager in Packaging Development:

The above description will help you in upgrading yourself with the domains involved, for example you must have  a thorough knowledge of Quality Analysis, SAP etc. apart from the basic curriculum.

Career Growth:
Enormous amount of growth is possible in the industry as you know how huge is the FMCG sector and with the increasing demand of innovation and creativity 'packaging' itself has become a special area to work upon. You can expect tremendous opportunities not only in terms of pay but also in terms of moving up the ladder.

Hope the above piece of information is useful for the readers.......
