Imagine a place where avenues are always shaded by green canopies, a place where people feel content even if money rotation is slow, where only geographical ups & downs dominate while life remains flat and smooth, where people enjoy road side eatables instead of Dominos & McDonalds, where Diwali and Ramzan are the celebrations for a month, and where citizens feel happy when lakes are full of water and get sad if water level recedes.Unfortunately, Bhopal is never remembered for Industrial growth or a techno hub but often remembered for one of the world's worst ever industrial disasters and the politics in and around the disaster. Every one talks about the 'punishment' and 'compensation' but no one talks about the impacts, the negative externalities that such industrial disasters cause.
On December 3rd 1984; thousands of people died and tens of thousands were maimed and traumatized for life when Methyl Icocyanate leaked from carbide's Bhopal plant. If you are interested to learn, understand and revisit the experience of Bhopal gas tragedy, EPCO Institute of Environmental Studies is conducting a one day training cum orientation workshop on 3rd December 2012 to get a holistic picture of the tragedy.
